The Whiteblood Foundation collective embodies a philosophy and artistic intent that stems from the diverse cultural and artistic sensitivities of its members. These individuals, with their varied experiences, studies, and skills, have come together to contribute their artistic knowledge and awareness to a shared and collaborative project.
The collective's artistic focus revolves around exploring the limits of reality and delving into the concept of "fragile reality," where fragility carries the sense of being susceptible to breaking or shattering. The heterogeneity of its members reflects the complexity of the art world or the contemporary art system. According to the collective, an artwork must achieve the simplicity that George Sand claimed to be the most challenging thing to attain in this world—an extreme limit of experience and the ultimate effort of genius.
Central themes in contemporary art, as expressed by art magazines and institutions, include the blurred boundaries between artistic disciplines, the interplay between Art and Technology, the relationship between Humans and Nature, the intersection of the Real and the Virtual, and the depth and versatility of artistic projects in general.
Within the WB artistic collective, there are competencies in marketing management, law, and engineering, with a clear international focus. The collective recalls the experiment of Billy Kluever and Rauschenberg when they launched the "Experiments in Art and Technology" (E.A.T.) project—an non-profit organization created to promote collaborations between artists and engineers.
The collective's artworks are the result of continuous reflections within their specific areas of expertise. They utilize materials like "Live Carbon," a recycled carbon-based material that undergoes constant technical reworking. The collective also engages in philosophical, conceptual, and artistic speculations that revolve around the definition and identification of artistic processes. They obsessively explore the relationship between artistic endeavors and copyright, considering the consequences of technology rather than considering it a precursor. Additionally, they examine the structural characteristics of communication through the use of famous (or infamous) brands capable of producing pervasive effects on the collective imagination.
The echoes of Milton Ernest Rauschenberg's work are apparent in the collective's attempt to bridge the gap between life and art, drawing inspiration from Dadaist Ready-Mades and New Dada artworks. With the term "whiteblood," the intention is to represent the material plasma of the artistic work, which is considered alive, mutable, and mortal, akin to blood. In classical Latin, there are two terms to distinguish between different types of blood: "sanguis," which flows within the human body, and "cruor." The collective aims to represent the whiteblood that gushes from the fissures created in this new and complex reality, where even virtual lacerations are deadly, painfully violent, and where our avatars, becoming increasingly authentic, become more vulnerable than our own decaying bodies, which fade away in favor of the digital ego.
The artwork:
Choose Your PearlDimensions: 80 cm x 60 cm (height)Material: Recycled carbon from the aeronautics industryTechnique: Handcrafted, hand-polished, oil on canvas, intense painting, curvilinear, and convex on the wall, as if it "enters" the room.
This artwork is conceptually similar to "Choose your Banana," but in this case, it is created using recycled materials from the Motorsport industry. It is entirely handmade, including the carbon part. The meaning is inherent in the inner question: What is my strength? What should I focus on to elevate my virtues? The colors of the pearls are dedicated to the Chakras. There are ten pearls in total.
At the bottom right, you will find the WB seal made of wax lacquer, and on the back, it is signed by the artists of the collective.
