Bronze inkwell with seahorses - 19th century

patinated bronze, bevelled bowl supported by three seahorses. On the cap as many swans with webbed legs joined by garlands. A faun sitting with a syringe acts as a grip for the stopper.
An eclectic and highly original object, combining Renaissance motifs by reworking them in the best tradition of 19th century historicism.
